10 November 2008 Yes, Short term capital loss can be setoff against short term capital gain but not against Interest income which falls under Income from other sources.

03 February 2009 I have a loss of Rs 24500.00 from Equity (STC loss) and a gain of Rs. 105000.00 from ESOP of my company. This company is listed on stock exchange in US so this is considered as short term gain (am I correct?). This gain of Rs. 105000.00 is after considering FMV of the stock on day of sale. So Can I set-off my short term loss from Equity (in India) against my gain from ESOP (from USa company)

09 March 2009 can someone help me with fllowing question:

I have a loss of Rs 24500.00 from Equity (STC loss) and a gain of Rs. 105000.00 from ESOP of my company.
