22 June 2010 IS THERE ANY THERSHOLD LIMIT FOR PAYING SERVICE TAX ON GTA SERVICE. FOR INSTANCE:-

TRANSPORTER BILTY AMOUNT =40000
(-) ADVANCE =15000
TO PAY =25000
ON WHAT AMOUNT WE PAY S.TX ON 40000 OR 25000

IF AMOUNT IS LESS THAN 5000 RS IS THERE ANY REQUIREMENT FOR PAYING SERVICE TAX BY CONSIGNOR.

22 June 2010 Threshhold limit is Rs. 10 lakh.

The limit is not available to a person liable to pay tax as receiver of service under reverse charge mechanism.

Even if the freight is less than 5000/- tax is payable.

Tax not payable for freight < Rs. 650/-
