21 December 2015 Hi,

I have a query regarding service tax on air travel expenses.

the ticket was booked using makemytrip

fare details:-

Base fare 7350
Airline Charges 4000
passenger service fees 238
Service Tax @ 4.95% 659
Total fare 12247

booking date 12th november
travel date 16th november

Could anyone please help me explaining 'how did they reach to 4.95% and that amount Rs.659'??

21 December 2015 4.95% is based on old rate it is not applicable as on date. The right rate is 5.8%(40% of 14.5%). It is applicable on base fare and air line charges.
