Service tax for railway station renovation contract

20 July 2015 Dear Sirs,

i would like to know whether a contractor is liable for Services tax in case of work contract for renovation of railway station it includes repairing work of building, paint etc.

20 July 2015 Yes the contractor is liable for service tax. Civil works provided to Govt is taxable from 01-04-2015.

20 July 2015 can you please provide more detail on this as earlier it was exempted and i have seen negative list where it is saying any

20 July 2015 See the budget amendment on mega exemption Notification 25/2012 clause 12 changes.
