16 September 2015 Hi,

We are in the process of starting an online company through which patients can consult over a phone with their doctors.

If the doctor's consultation fees is Rs 100, we will also be collecting Rs 10 as transaction fees.

Since Doctors are exempt from service tax, what will be the basis for Service tax. Will it be just Rs 10 which is our transaction fees or the entire Rs. 110? If we want to minimize service tax, should we look at setting up our company as a clinic or something?

Thanks.

16 September 2015 Doctors are exempt from service tax. You have to pay service tax on Rs.10 collected as transaction fees.

16 September 2015 Thanks for the reply. We were told that that the exemption was only if we were a clinic or a hospital. Is that not the case?

16 September 2015 Doctor's fees is exempted.
