08 October 2009 Can any one guide me about service tax credit,

We are manufacturing of one prodcut for which advertisement purpose we are paying to Google india for number of click on our product and they charges service tax on that

so please guide me shall we entitle for service tax credit on that amount from Excise

08 October 2009 if you are registered with service tax then you can take cenvat credit for service tax

09 October 2009 Cenvat Creidt Rules, 2004 permits a manufacturer to take credit of service tax paid on input services.

Advertisement, sales promotion etc. has been included in the inclusive part of the definition of Input Service.

In the recent Coca Cola's case, advertisement has been held to be an input service.

You are eligible for the credit. Registration as service provider is not required.
