whether service tax is applicable for individual consultants?

Yes. Service Tax is applicable for individual consultants rendering Management Consultancy or Engineering Consultany, if the billing exceeds Rs.10 L in the first year. Non qualified professionals rendering accountancy and tax consultancy will not be covered as it does not fall under the definition of Management Consultancy and they cannot register under CA / CS / ICWA Services.
