21 June 2010 If a person completes his 65 years in the month of November, 2010, then whether he will be treated as senior citizen for the Asst year 2010-11..??

21 June 2010 Yes. A person will be treated as senior citizen, if ANY TIME during the year he crossed the senior citizen age limit.

21 June 2010 Assessee completes 65 in November 2010 ie., relating to the previous year(financial year) 2010-11. So benefit of senior citizen ship, under income tax Act 1961, can be availed only from assessment year 2011-12 onwards.

21 June 2010 Yes Mr. Warrier is right. I didn't noticed the AY.
It is right that for IT Act, the person will be treated as senior citizen in FY of it attaining the age of 65 years, but the benefits for the same will be applicable in assessment year only. Accordingly, as said by Mr. Warrior, the benefits of Senior Citizen will be avaialbel for AY 2011-12.
