Dear one and all
iam income tax payee.For my wife i have paid tution fee Rs.10,000/- for studying MBA by distance mode with osmanial university,Hyderabad,andhra pradesh.Weekly twice classes are there.Can i avail this tution fee for tax exemption for this FY2009-10(i have not taken any eduction loan)please advise me

The deduction u/s 80C regarding tution fees is available only in case tution fees is paid for two children. The tution fees paid for spouse is not eligible for deduction u/s 80C

The Deduction is available for any two children.
This the only clause u/s 80 C where assessee can not claim tax benefit for expenditure done on himself.Means if assessee has paid tuition fess for his studies ,he will not be eligible.
Deduction is not available for tuition fees paid for studies of spouse.
