Sale tax for bulider

28 October 2010 Sir, I am a builder, I used to take civil contract for third party i.e or do contract work for parties. I had taken sale tax number & purchase steel, cement. Now how could I submit my sale tax return.
1. On what amount I have to Pay Sale Tax
2. If the work done is 2 lac waht will the sale tax amount
3. Can we charge Service Tax
4. On what amount the service tax will be

28 October 2010 Please tell me what are you selling as you have mentioned that you are a work contractor and you are rendering services to your client as far as i think you can charge service tax , on your bill as per ;latest amendment in the service tax ,that is @ 10.30 on the 25 % of the vale of contract entered between you are your client
May be you have taken sales tax number in order to get convet credit on purchase of steel , cement and other material use in the construction purposes .
