21 July 2025 Regarding late fee for NIL quarterly returns under Maharashtra VAT (RVAT):

Late fee is Rs. 1000 per quarter if the quarterly return is filed late, even if it's a NIL return.

There is no daily penalty of Rs. 50; the maximum penalty for late filing of NIL quarterly returns is Rs. 1000 per quarter.

So, if you file a NIL quarterly return after the due date, expect to pay a flat late fee of Rs. 1000 for that quarter.
