06 May 2010 Please guide me current status of Service tax on rent on immovable property. As we all know Through budget defenetion has been changed. budget pass and now what to do ? What is status of cas pending in Supreme court? Whether we have to depsoit pendinf tax of wait till service tax official approach us.

06 May 2010 The case with the Supreme Court may either be withdrawn or will be dismissed, being infractous.

Department is now entitled to collect tax alongwith interest. Better to deposit under protest.

Another round of litigation is expected, as the Delhi Highcourt has not considered the alternative pleas of the petetioners.
