Dear Experts,
Can we restrict basic salary to Rs.6500 even though the Gross Salary is Rs.50000/-

Yes, basic salary can be restricted on 6500 from day one.
But in case if you have been making the contribution on higher salary previously, you need to take consent of PF office to restrict the contribution in middle.
