02 July 2012 An Original Subscriber to memorandum in a privte limited company wants to transfer his share holding where and how should stamp duty on these shares is to be paid ?? Is stamp duty payable by both transfer-er and transferee??

No, only one will pay stamp duty on transfer. Duty will be paid on consideration as per applicable rate. It will depend on mutually agreed between transferor or transferee that who will pay.

It will be in Share Transfer Ticket which will be available with Post Office in Rs. 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 100, and 200 in Value.

You will purchase the same and affixed on Transfer deed back side in box.

In Delhi the Share transfer duty is 25 paisa on Rs. 100 value of consideration of transfer.
