Paying tax on wrong pan number

01 August 2011 Hello sir,

When i was paying income tax for my brother in a bank, wrongly i mentioned his company PAN number in lieu of his PAN number. Bank authority were not noticed the same and approved the payment. But, i found that mistake before E-filing. I dunno what to do? Whether i can go ahead with the counterfoil what i have with me and filing or is it possible to rectify that mistake in bank and reverse the entry or can i get another counterfoil for correct PAN number? Suppose, if i go for filing with that counterfoil what would happen? Please help me.
