Hi Rajesh, the answers to ur questions are
1. when a partner retires he leaves his share of profit for the other partners. so he need to be compensated for that. that is why we value goodwill and dr. continuing partners in gaining ratio and cr. retiring partner.
2. pre-invt means before invt and post-invt means after invt
3. market portfolio means portfolio of invt into different market securities
