03 August 2013 I am working in merchant navy from last 10 yrs and maintained NRI status by sailing abroad for 183 dayz, but in 2011 i couldnot complete my 183 daz,so i need to pay tax for particular year where i worked for 4 mnths and earned salary in USD.

03 August 2013 for AY2013-14 you need to check whether you are staying for 182 days or more in 2012-13.

03 August 2013 actually for AY2011-12 the last date was 31.3.2013 for filling belated return so now you cannot pay tax also.

03 August 2013 I think u didnt understand my question, plz tell me one thing in any year if i am unable to complete my 182 then wat will happen?

03 August 2013 In my view, your status has been changed in that particular year from NRI to Resident.
.
A resident has to file his return if his income is taxable.
.
But, you can get credit for the tax deducted (withheld) on your salary. So only at differential rate only , you may have the tax liability.
