Mediclaim insurance preimium for parents

Dear All,
My father has taken mediclaim policy in his name, usually I use to pay premium from my account & take tax benefit u/s. 80D. This year my father has paid premium form his account later I gave him a cheque equal to the premium.
Could I take benefit u/s. 80D for med. ins. premium for parents. Though I have not paid to insu. provider from my account but I have reimbursed it to my father. ultimately it has been paid from my chargeable income to tax.
