Medical Reimbursement to a pensioner

This query is : Resolved

22 July 2010 Sir,
My question is if a pensioner(govt) gets medical treatment of himself / spouse in govt/ approved hospital, & amt is reimbursed to him, that amt is taxable to him or exempt?
Further is there any change in provision if the employee is from Pvt / Semi Govt Sector?

23 July 2010 Pensioner cannot be claim Medical reimbursement Rs.15000 (since the mediclaim not part of salary)

27 July 2010 Sir, is it means that if a person retires he is out of the definition of section 17(2)?

08 August 2010 The basic for claiming medical remibursment, the claimant should get the medical reimbursment as salary, so a retired person may not get the same,so exemption also may not possible
