06 November 2012 1.Service tax registration is wef 1/4/12
How to pay the service tax and file returns for period prior to 1/4/12 , when no registration no. Was acquired?

2.Also the above ST is on rent on immovable property.
There is a notification which says no penalty shall b levied on arrears of ST on rent on immovable property if whole of the tax with interest is paid before 27/11/2012. Does this penalty mean no penalty on late payment of tax, or late filing of returns or both?

06 November 2012 You can pay the tax under New registration. but while filling ST3 for April-june 2012, mention the same under the head " arrears of Revenue"

07 November 2012 Thank u sir! And can u tell me if any bifurcation needs to b given for tax and interest? If yes, then how?

Also if i pay tax now, question of filing returns for the previous quarters and penalty thereon does not arise right?

07 November 2012 Yes Mam. In arrears column, mention seperately the Basic Tax, Ed. Cess and H. Ed. Cess and Interest. There is seperate column for same.
No return required for previous year as you were no registered. SO no return Possible. Penalty not payable till issuance of show cause. But same can be levied by officer in future.
