Jurisdication of the company in income tax

04 August 2011 Friends! I have formed a new Company for my client. Registered Office of the Company is in Bihar. But the promoters of the Company want to keep the jurisdiction of Income Tax in Kolkata (West Bengal). Corporate Office of the Company will be in Kolkata.

I want to know whether it's possible or not. What steps, we should take for the same, while applying for PAN.

06 August 2011 Dear Mukul,

First of all it is possible. You Can keep Income Tax Jurisdiction which is other than Registered office of the Company.

Secondly , while filling Form 49A, you need to provide an address of place which you want to keep as Jurisdiction of Income Tax and AO Code, Ward and Rage will be alloted accordingly.
Final and More Important do provide the address proof of such location (in your case Corporate office Kolkata) and Name of the entity should be appeared on the top of Address proof.

In case of company , one of the following proof is sufficient,

1. Electricity Bill
2. Telephone Bill
3. Recent Bank Statement (Presenting Address on top of the Statement)
