ITR Filed with Wrong PAN No.

13 May 2009 Hi,
I am filing a ITR of one of my boss since 1998,

in startig 2-3 Year we filed the ITR with "PAN APPLIED"

than next 2-3 Year we filed with "GIR No."

After some time i got PAN No. on phone by party & filed with that PAN which was wrong

Recently when i m filing ITR online for financial year 2007-08 i came to know the correct PAN no.

I filed with Correct PAN No. this time

Please tell me. what are the implication / penalties etc. can be charged on the Assessee.
also let me know what can we do for avoid any penalties & get this error rectified.

13 May 2009 Have you received the notice for earlier year from income tax department. If yes, then they must have given you the penalty amount.

If no, then in case notice come then you need to pay penalty of Rs. 10K for quoting wrong PAN.

Please note we have not received any notice etc. from department, address of assessee is same from 1998 onwards.

Please tell me what can we do to rectify this error.

In case if you have paid the all taxes due along with proper interest. In that case you won't receive the notice.
