Is vat/ wct required for educational society.

23 May 2013 the educational society registered as a educational trust , they want to build a new campus / collage for this purpose they gave a contract to build this collage , are they required to deduct WCT while making payment to contractor under Maharashtra VAT act ? or they have to register under Maharashtra VAT Act.

24 May 2013 TDS from contractors is mandatory for Govt,semi govt,PSUs,and some large industries only.It is not compulsory for others....mjk

13 July 2013 The law is for all and yes college is also covered to deduct taxes under WCT or any other contract.
