13 July 2010 IFRS is applicable from 1st april 2011, so
a person having no idea about AS should read IFRS or AS?

13 July 2010 From Zero level if one has to apply IFRS directly he has to go through IFRS only as AS would be only a matter of reference then.

However AS is never going to lose its importance as every finance person in India would definitely go to refer AS before looking to IFRS.

13 July 2010 My sugesstion without Under standing Indian AS - you might got confused with IFRS, Better under stand present Indian AS

You can start reading IFRS.
But never forget to keep an AS book alongwith IFRS notes.
This will help you to understand the IFRS better.
