A commercial coaching center (which provides coaching for engineering & medical entrance exams) is also providing hostel facility for their students. On coaching fee it is collecting & paying GST @ 18%. What rate of GST it has to collect & pay against the amount collected towards hostel facility( for food & accommodation). Please clarity the rate of GST for hostel service.

For food 5% GST applicable for accommodation GST not applicable if rent is less than Rs 1000 per day.

that slab rate is applicable for guest house, hotels, inns etc. ie for temporary stay. Is that slab rate applies even for hostels also as they collect rent for a month not on daily basis no sir. Please clarify

GST not applicable on monthly rent collected on residential accommodation which is exempt.

The coaching center collects money for hostel service ( for accommodation and food) from the students. but the coaching center has given entire hostel service to a contractor. whether then also same rate applies as said above (ie 5% on mess and no GST if rent less than 1000 per day) or any change in GST rate applicable to coaching center that is to be collected from students. Sir Please clarify.

whether there will be any difference in GST rate if the coaching center maintains hostels on its own or it gives to a outside contractor

Then the coaching center has to separate the Mess charges and Rent and has to show separately in the invoice and on has to collect & pay 5% GST on mess charges and No GST on Rent if it is below 1000 per day. Is my understanding is correct Please confirm it Sir.
