for getting registration of service tax

05 May 2010 I wanna know the amount of penalty in case i m not register myself with service tax department even if my service exceeds of Rs. 10 Lacs in July 2009. and after getting registration from the service tax department should i filled the return of service tax from April 2009 to September 2009(because service tax exceeds Rs. 10 Lacs in July 2009 itself)

05 May 2010 Maximum penalty Rs. 200/- per day u/s. 77 for faliure to take registration. The penalty is discretionery and the adjucting authority may reduce/waive the penalty.

You must pay tax alongwith interest and file return for past period also.
