Filing Belatedly

19 May 2011 one of my clients did not file returns for Ay 09-10 , They got the notice 142(1) dated 22/2/11 but recd on 5/4/11, Now my doubt is when already time for filing that return expires on 31/3/11 how can we file that return, moreover ITO served it very late as it has to be served before end of AY 09-10 if i m not wrong pls clarify

19 May 2011 there is no time limit for issue and service of notice under section 142 where such a notice requires furnishing of return refer paroviso to section 142(1) in this regard
u can furnish return and this return will be in response to notice under section 142(1)
