Exampted service for Govt. Job

Dear Sir,
We have awarded a Govt. Job (Water Pipe Line) by a principal Contracor. We are sub contractor. The Job is exempted for service tax for princil Contractor. Same job we have executed back to back basis.
Please tell for that job we have also exampted for service tax or not.
If we are not exampted can we charged service tax to our client.

Some public utility and non commercial nature Govt projects are exempted from Service tax.Please refer the Work contract service categarory fully and take some opnion from Service tax department also
