31 December 2014 Kindly advice me if one employee is getting 15000 basic and Rs. 500/- as HRA. should we deduct the ESI.
i am confused between basic salary or gross salary. basic salary should be upto rs. 15000 or gross salary should be 15000/-

31 December 2014 For ESI salary includes all allowances(gross).

31 December 2014 but the limit has been revised with Rs.15000/-. i confusion is that the gross salary should be rs. 15000/- or basic salary should be rs. 15000/-

31 December 2014 ESI calculation as per ESIC rules of act 1948

WAGES FOR ESI CONTRIBUTIONS

To be deemed as wages

• Basic pay
• Dearness allowance
• House rent allowance
• City compensatory allowance
• Overtime wages (but not to be taken into account for determining the coverage of an employee)
• Payment for day of rest
• Production incentive
• Bonus other than statutory bonus
• Night shift allowance
• Heat, Gas & Dust allowance
• Payment for unsubstituted holidays
• Meal/food allowance
• Suspension allowance
• Lay off compensation
• Children education allowance (not being reimbursement for actual tuition fee)
