10 June 2012 Dear Sirs, I am planning to file e return this year, I have Salary income, I have dowloaded ITR-1 excel file from the site, Please let me know whether validation is required for the xml file generated or whether the same is to be directly uploaded. Please also let me know whether this procedure needs digital signature as i am a Salaried employee in don't think the same will be required. But please help me to clear my doubts so that i can file the return.

11 June 2012 1. After filling up the return, click on the validate button to validate the return and then generate the xml file.

2. Digital signature is NOT MANDATORY since you are not required to get your accounts audited.
