Duplicate TDS certificate

One of our vendor has lost TDS certificate issued to him in his premises and
requested to issue duplicate certificate. Whether there is any offence issuing duplicate TDS certificate and we need a FIR from the party?
Please clarify.

You may issue Duplicate TDS Certificate to ur vendor. In any case, no body can claim more than the amount of tax deducted and as such there is no harm in issuing the duplicate certificate. Now, TDS certificate is to be retained by the deductee for his records and the same is used to furnish the particulars in the retun of income. I think there is no need to lodge a FIR.
