Did not deducted tds, can get the tax exemption for that am

This query is : Resolved

10 October 2014 Hello all,

Because of my ignorance we didn't deduct TDS to our service provider.

We paid that amount towards rent and that's more than Rs 5,00,000/-.

My accountant is saying we can not get TAX exemption (or we can not show that amount as expenditure) as we didn't deduct TDS. Is that true?

Thanks,
Naresh

10 October 2014 you can deduct, provided you are able to obtain a certificate from the deductee signed by a CA under proviso to section 201(1)
