Deduction u/s 80c is for investment in ELSS Mutual Funds and not in shares or debentures.

but it has been given u/s 80C( xix ), that subscricbtion to equity or dedenture of public ltd co , whre proceded are used for the purpose of business covered u/s 80IA(4)is allowable as deduction
