14 September 2012 Work order was prepared for the Turbo Ventilator Fixing and installation in the college. The bill was issued by the party seperately for the material and the installation of such equipment. However the TDS gets deducted on the whole amount of Work Order. So on what amount the TDS has to get deducted and why?

14 September 2012 It depends upon the WORK ORDER, if any, issued by the College. If therre is every reason to believe that the contract is slit into 2 parts only to get away from the TDS provisions, it will not serve the purpose. Why the college is interested in NOT deducting the TDS? If the contractor is interrested in NOT being deducted the TDS, let him get the letter from the concerned ITO to authorise the college to do so.
