11 September 2012 As per Rule 4B of Service Tax Rules - It is compulsory for GTA to issue a consignment note.

Is there any service tax liability arises on service receiver if GTA doesn't issue consignment note ?

11 September 2012 The answer to your query lies in the Point of Taxation Rules, 2011.

As per the above rules the point of taxation in case of reverse charge is the date of payment.

So, if you have made the payment to the GTA, you are liable to pay service tax on the same even if the GTA has not issued a consignment note.

11 September 2012 Agreed with the experty reply.
