My client got retired in the year 2010. she got a letter from income tax department regarding compliance and related information for AY 2010-11, 2011-12 & 2012-13 that she had not filed return for that assessment years but tds has been deducted on salary and fixed deposits. She has to give reply online under compliance section.
On checking the compliance section, there are options when we check that return has not been filed, that why it not been filed - No taxable income, business closed, return under preparation, other.
My client had income (salary) for AY 2010-11 and getting pension from AY 2011-12 onwards which is below the taxable income.
what to be done in case: (1) for AY 2010-11, since she had salary income (taxable income) which option should we selected.
(2) For AY 2011-12 and 2012-13 she had no income which option should we select.

You can select the option " return under preparation"
And file the return.
TDS and filing of return are 2 independent activities. Merely because TDS is done does NOT give you permission NOT to file the return.
