15 October 2012 Kindly advise –

For ‘Income from Other Sources’ can a Chartered Accountant in full time Practice –

1. Invest in Shares / Commodities for Short / Long Term.
2. Speculate in Share in intraday Trading.
3. Speculate in Derivatives (both Shares / Commodities) in intra-day Trading.
4. Speculate in Derivatives (both Shares / Commodities) in carry forward Trading.

15 October 2012 Ethics can never be regarded as UNRULY horse. It does not aim at making the PERSONAL life miserable for an 'in full time practice" professional; in general and CA; in particular. 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 in part or as a whole or any of the 4s above is definitely not a hindrance so long as it is well within the scope of PERSONAL investment. Merely because income department regards the income from any of the above under income from business or the concerned CA offered the same as income from business, per se does not cross the border of ETHICS so long as it in the nature of PERSONAL.
