This query is : Resolved

15 May 2009 One of my client is a service provider ( software developer). He purchased computers and other office eqipment on which excice duty also levied. Can he take credit of excise duty.

15 May 2009 i think you can take credit.

15 May 2009 Yes the excise duty on computers can be taken 50% in the year of receipt and 50% inthe subsequent years. If purchase last year 100% credit his year is admissible. No depreciation on the excise components should be claimed.
Central excise duty can be used to pay the servic etax or if exported then refund can be applied for.
