14 December 2013 I am a brand owner. I purchase goods from various manufacturer/trader. I send packing material of my brand to them. They sell goods to me and in turn I sell to ultimate customer.

In this case only real manufacturer is liable to pay excise duty or I shall also be liable to pay exside duty on purchases.

Rajiv Agrawal

15 December 2013 Any one can pay the duty on manufactured of branded goods. Manufacturer is not registered with central excise then you should registered with central excise and pay the duty. SSI exemption available to all unit upto 1.5cr but If any one manufacture the excisable goods to other brand name then SSI exemption will not be available.
