my question is whether tution, coaching centers, are covered as eligible business u/s 44AD or not. if not then whether the provision of maintaining books of accounts for income above Rs. 120000/- is sustainable or not

24 March 2012 Yes it is covered under Section 44AD. Section 44AD covers ALL businesses except that of plying goods carriage on hire (covered u/s 44AE).

Accordingly, books of account are NOT required to be maintained.
