If your Annual Information Statement (AIS) shows details about security and mutual fund transactions that don't match your actual records, you should always file your Income Tax Return (ITR) based on your actual figures. While minor variations are usually overlooked, significant discrepancies, such as the AIS showing a profit when you actually incurred a loss, could potentially lead to a defective return notice. It's best to disclose your accurate trading details to avoid any issues.
