16 January 2010 My brother who is studying MBA took a student loan in 2009 Apr. My father who is retierd was the co-borrower. I am currently repaying the interest for the loan.

I am the surity of the loan too. With changes in 80E rules am I eligible to get tax benefits? If yes, what do I need to have as certificates.

Thanks
Sonali

16 January 2010 Sec.80E deduction can be claimed for Spouse, Children or the student for whom the Individual is the legal guardian not for brother
