08 January 2015 Dear all
please clarify my doubt

Mr "X" is a house owner and he gave power of attorney to his friends daughter to give this premiss to others for rent and enjoy the amount of rent

now she gave this premisses to business man for rent for worth of 20,000 P.M

now the business man has to deduct tds

who is liable to be deducted TDS

09 January 2015 The person paying the rent is liable to deduct the TDS provided rent paid to the payee exceeds Rs 1.80 Lacs p.a.

In case the rent is paid by Individual/HUF, then they are liable to deduct TDS only if in the previous year their file under Tax Audit.
