This discussion clarifies that you cannot file an updated return if a refund is due from TDS. Instead, you may need to file a return under section 119(2)(b) of the IT Act, requiring permission from the JCIT to claim your TDS. The possibility of claiming TDS in a subsequent year is also mentioned as an alternative.

Can I claim less TDS to file updated return?
If Tax = Rs.30000 and I have TDS deducted = Rs.100000 for FY 2022-2023, can I claim Rs.29000 from TDS and pay Rs.1000 as tax and file updated return? If yes, is there a way to claim the TDS next year?

You cannot file updated return in this case, as there is refund due. You can file return u/s. 119(2)(b) IT act, and claim TDS; only after getting permission to file return from JCIT.
