Tuition fee rebet

30 January 2015 My Dear Experts/Sirs/CAStudents

My Query is

1. My Employee paid Rs. 8000$(Canada) as tuition fee (for abroad higher education). Whether the same can be deducted u/s 80C or not?

2. My employee paid Medical exp. bill for his son medi. treatment, whether deductible or not. We are not paying any medical exp. to employee. Employee claiming mediclaim u/s 80D.

It is an Urgent.

Ans 1: Tution fees u/s 80C allows only for education taken in India.

Ans 2: Since you are no paying any Medical Allowances exp incurred for medical exp is not exempted.

Medi. Insurance premium is deductible u/s 80D.

However if treatment is for critical illness then he can claim benefit u.s 80DD/DDD
