What should an assessee do if he is served a time barred notice under section 143(2)....Practically what should be the course of action in this case?

The fact that notice is timebarred, it should be brough to the notice of the assessing officer and ask him to drop the proceedings under section 143(3) as the proceedings are time barred thorugh a written letter.
