22 February 2009 My client company says they are Registered with Excise duty & VAT and that was fully paid So TDS should not be deduct on their bill amount. Is there is any provision like this.Plz tell me?

22 February 2009 No excise duty is payable towards indirect taxes of central governemt and vat is payable to state governtment. TDS being deducted by you is for the purpose of income tax under direct taxes and you are depositing to government on behalf of them.

Absoulutely you have to deduct tds. Kindly explain them.

22 February 2009 CA B Srinivasulu is correct however the position would be more clear if you tell for what the bill is issued

22 February 2009 The bill is for the purchase of 20 Buses for the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation.
