Tds Quartrly Returns

30 October 2010 i am student so i have to know the information related to tds
in a year how many times we file the return,
some of the persons told monthly once and quartrly returns ?
some of the persons told that monthly before seventh file closed tds
i have not get any idea any one could you pls help out.

i know this web site use great experts,
i request everyone pls answer my queries,

30 October 2010 2 kinds of tds returns are filed

1)24Q -this is the form in which the details of payments and tds related to salary is filed.

2)form 26Q- this is the form in which the tds and payments othe than salary is to be filed .eg :rent ,professional fee,brokerage and comission,interest on loans.etc

both forms are to be file on a quarterly basis within 15 days of the end of the quarter,.eg: the return of first quarter is to be filed by 15th july.(including 15th )

the tds collected in a month is to be paid within the 7 days from the end of the month.
