Tds on term deposits

20 June 2012 I have deposited Rs.120000.00 in S.B.I Taliparamaba in 2009 for 3 yrs term. When amount got matured I found they have deducted 12.5 % TDS per annum. At the time of deposit, the Chief Manager of SBI told me that No TDS will get attracted to this, bcz interest perannum is less that Rs.10K.

Now when I enquired they are telling that as the fund is from NRO account, the interest will attract TDS. This information was never passed on to me, while depositing. Is there any way I can claim TDS paid by me. Grateful to have good advice.

20 June 2012 You can claim TDS for FY 10-11 and FY 11-12 by filing Income Tax Return.
