pls tell me whether tds is chargeable on freight, and if yes then how much amount should be deduct??
suppose we are paying freight of200000 per transaction then how much amt of tds should be deducted by us?

No tds is required if transporter furnishes PAN to you.
Otherwise you require to deduct @ 20%.

There is no need to deduct tax from the payment of freight provided you have obtained the PAN of the transporter and also furnished the transaction of freight so made in your quarterly return of TDS...
